Back At It! Spring 2014

The Hastings Green Market opened today. Carl and I headed over for an enthusiastic harvest of wild-foraged ramp, homegrown oyster mushrooms, and asparagus that was a 1/2 inch around. I’ve been collecting chives, dandelion greens and violets throughout the April season. I’m not exactly sure what’s come over me, but I am constantly looking everywhere for edibles. We’re considering taking a course this summer. I’ve already purchased several books online, and my absolute favorite purchase today was a gorgeous nasturtium plant that’s hanging in my window. We crowned the burgers tonight with fresh leaves and blossoms. So cool! (BTW, the asparagus cost $4.00. That’s $1.00 per stalk. We’re planting our own this year at Food Is Love Farm – it should be ready in three years for eating).
